Running the London Marathon 2026 — Because Seafarers Still Need Us
Thanks so much to everyone who supported me last year. Your generosity made a real difference. I’m running the London Marathon again for The Seafarers’ Charity because, sadly, the challenges seafarers and their families face haven’t gone away.
In 2024, the charity awarded £2.6 million in grants to help seafarers, fishers, and their families with everything from welfare casework and emergency helplines to trauma counselling.
Seafarers and fishermen work hard, often isolated at sea for months, facing tough conditions. Many still experience harassment, mental health struggles, or even abandonment by their employers.
One in seven calls to SeafarerHelp is about abuse or severe distress.
Being connected to the industry through shore-based maritime recruitment, I know some companies are doing great things, but many seafarers still rely on charities like The Seafarers’ Charity and the organisations they support for vital help.
Training for, and running, a marathon is tough, but it’s nothing compared to what these people endure every day. That’s why I’m putting in the miles again to raise £2,250 and help keep these essential services running.
If you can support again, or for the first time, thank you so much. Every little bit counts.
