I am running this marathon to raise much-needed funds for the Seafarers' Charity, to help them provided vital support and pastoral care for Seafarers.
Seafarers are the backbone of world trade - a vital component in the supply chain that we all rely on. But many endure extremely harsh conditions and are mistreated; underpaid or unpaid; and even abandoned - left to fend for themselves when operating a ship is no longer economically viable to its owner.
Even those who are well-treated by their employers can suffer from loneliness, depression and other mental health issues, as a result of the isolation they experience.
