Port of Aberdeen Conquers the 24 Peaks for the Seafarers!

Our Mission

At the Port of Aberdeen, we understand the dedication and challenges faced by the seafarers we work alongside every day. They're at the heart of our operations, braving long hours, time away from loved ones, and often demanding conditions. To acknowledge their tireless efforts and support them when they need it most, we're taking on the formidable 24 Peaks Challenge on the 6-7th of July, raising funds for The Seafarers' Charity.

Why The Seafarers' Charity?

The Seafarers' Charity offers a lifeline to seafarers in need. They provide:

  • Emergency Financial Assistance: Supporting seafarers and their families during unexpected crises, such as shipwrecks, piracy, or abandonment.
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing Support: Offering counselling, helplines, and resources to address the unique mental health pressures faced by seafarers, including isolation, trauma, and fatigue.
  • Practical Support and Advocacy: Assisting with legal issues, employment disputes, and access to healthcare, while advocating for better working conditions and rights for seafarers worldwide.
  • Family Support and Education: Providing resources and programs for seafarers' families, helping them cope with separation and offering educational opportunities for seafarers' children.

Our Goal:    £6,000 !

Every pound you contribute directly helps a seafarer in need. Your donation could provide:

  • A week's worth of groceries for a seafarer's family struggling financially.
  • A counselling session to support a seafarer battling loneliness and isolation.
  • Essential resources to help a seafarer find a new job after an injury.

The 24 Peaks Challenge

The 24 Peaks Challenge is not for the faint of heart. Our team will attempt to summit 24 peaks in the Lake District, all over 2,400 feet high, within a 48-hour window. This means hiking over 30 miles and ascending over 12,000 feet, battling the elements and fatigue. It's a challenge that mirrors the resilience and determination of the seafarers we aim to support.

Thank you for joining the Port of Aberdeen team – together, we'll make a difference!
