Walk with us and help us support family dementia carers.
Every small step counts.
Registration has now opened for our annual event, Every Small Step 2021!
Dementia Carers Count is dedicated to supporting family and friends looking after someone with dementia.
We’re inviting you to sign up and set your own 5-day step challenge. Help us reach a cumulative step count of 700,000 each day: one for every family carer in the UK.
You can form your own walking group, or if you prefer to walk alone we can keep you company with our new, exclusive podcast episodes.
There are even medals this year for those who wish to fundraise or donate £50 or more. The vital funds you raise ensure Dementia Carers Count can continue to offer life-changing support to family members and friends caring for someone with dementia in the UK.
The work of a family carer never ends. Let’s make dementia carers count together.
WALK. LISTEN. SUPPORT.
How it works
Register today to support family dementia carers across the UK. It's just £5 to sign up and take part.
Your supporter page contains a step counter, set yourself a target for the five-day event. Whether it is 100 steps or 100,000 it's up to you; every small step counts. On your page you can link a fitness device or manually record your walks.
Walk & listen
Every day, new podcast episodes will appear on your supporter page, this year there is the choice of listening to our conversations series or inspiration series. Take 20 minutes to go outside and log your steps and listen to our stories.
Share your page to let your friends and your community know what this is all about. If you raise or donate £50 we will send you a bespoke wooden dementia carers champion medal. Help us continue our vital work.

Is it safe to take part in Every Small Step during the current COVID-19 outbreak?
Why take part this October?
Last year we tried something new and were amazed by the response. Join us, step out and listen to the incredible stories of family dementia carers across the UK.
What is Every Small Step?
Together, we will take small steps every day to highlight and support the brilliant work of family dementia carers across the country. Every day between the 13-17th October you will hear from leading researchers through to young carers in our series of podcasts. We want to share the incredible stories of people across the country who are caring for those with dementia. Walk with us and listen to their stories.
There are 700,000 people in the UK who are caring for a friend or family member with dementia. We invite you to take your own small steps and walk with us, as we take a step for every family dementia carer.
