I'm Running to Paris

That's right me and the team are running to Paris. You heard, from London to Paris on foot, in just 4 days. Wish us luck, but more importantly, please donate. Your donation will support Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex and Samaritans. I really appreciate your support.

My Updates

4 Days to go!! 😱🤢🫣🏃🏼‍♀️🙌

Sunday 6th Sep
When anyone messages to ask me how I'm feeling about next week I usually respond with about 5 different emojis. I'll saw a post that Run2Paris shared to say 7 days to go and I felt so excited watching it. Then I'll tell someone about what I'm about to do and I'll get the fear again! 😂

I've started to get my kit tighter for what to pack, travel pillow purchased, day 1 runners locked in... It's all becoming real! The final weekend run was done yesterday. I'll do a shorter easy session on Monday before work then we travel down to London on Wednesday.

Weir Oui Go!!! 🤘🤘

10 Days to go!! 😁😱🤢🙌

Monday 31st Aug
Can't quite believe it's now 10 days to go until we are at the start line of Run2Paris! It's officially taper time which has been good to not be out running for as long especially at the weekend. My right knee is giving me a lil niggle - sports massage booked for this Thursday so I'm sure that will sort me out 🤞🤞

It's getting to the exciting phase now of thinking about what to pack and importantly which snacks to have for the car journey 😂

Training last week consisted of:
Tuesday: 10km easy
Wednesday: bootcamp circuits in the morning and some speed work that evening with 300m faster pace and 300m a bit slower
Friday: 10km easy
Sunday: 14km long run

25 days to go! 😱

Sunday 16th Aug
This was a deload week and it coincided with a trip back to Ireland to see family.

Mon and Tues I did runs around my home town which was a good change of scene.

Back to Scotland on Friday and 2 more runs to complete.

Saturday was on/off Ks. My head didn't quite feel into it but got the session done.

Sunday started with rain in the morning so I opted to stay in bed 🫣😂 eventually mid afternoon I convinced the family to join me on the cycle path by them going on their bikes and keeping me company. The added support really helped.

Next week is going to be the longest volume of the plan then it's taper time. I'll keep the focus on 1 session at a time though 🙌

5 weeks to go

Monday 10th Aug
This week was meant to be a "deload" week where the volume of running decreases slightly to give my wee legs a rest.... It didn't quite plan out like that 🫣😂

Monday: 7km easy run doing a loop to a nearby village before work

Tuesday: the rain had been pouring heavily all night so I was glad I had already decided to do my 2mile time trial that evening when Jacob was at his taekwondo class. By 5pm the sun was shining and it was pretty humid. To be honest I was pretty scared about the time trial - the name alone sounds scary not to mention the pace Runna had prescribed me. It was a mental battle pretty much the whole way to keep going and trust myself that I could do it.... Even if I was talking to myself for those last 200m to keep going 😂 I was so proud that I completed the session with my fastest mile! Legs were done after that!

Wednesday: rest day from running and bootcamp in the morning instead

Thursday: 6km easy to another nearby village

Friday: finally did the hill repeats that I was meant to do last Sunday but had been too tired after my trip to London 🫣 1min run up a hill x 12 😵‍💫 it was a beautiful morning - not too warm. Finally ticked the session off ✅

Saturday: up early to get the ferry over to Ireland to enjoy a last holiday before the schools go back and stay with family.

Sunday: the plan said 10km but I decided to take advantage of the change of scene and swap the run to do a half marathon. The rain was pouring - at least it was warm rain 😂 the run felt good and it was great to run through my home town and do a spot of border hopping 😜

6 Weeks to go!

Saturday 1st Aug
Things have started to feel very real this week!

Started on Monday with a Weir Oui Go team planning meeting. I took an action to try and get us in the local paper. 9km easy run ticked off before work.

Tuesday I wrote an article and sent it off to a few papers 🤞 That evening the rain was chucking it down but that didn't stop me going out for a 7km easy run.... Got soaked - nothing a warm shower won't solve!

Wednesday was a rest from running and did the morning bootcamp with Tracy and the Weir Outdoor Training early birds 💪

Good news on Thursday, one of the papers featured our article!! https://www.the-gazette.co.uk/news/26424021.bridge-weir-mums-set-take-paris-challenge-samaritans/

Friday was an early start 😴🫩 I'm away to London on Saturday to go see Hamilton with fellow team member Susanne so can't do my usual long run on Saturday. Instead I set my alarm for 4:45am 🫣😳, got ready and off I went. The run felt really good and I was steady pacing throughout 🙌 the plan said 20km but if I've already done that much I may as well do another 1.1km and tick a half marathon off before work... Which I did... All before 8am ✅🤣🏃🏼‍♀️ thank goodness Saturday will be an actual rest day.... Apart from all the walking in London 😜

Sunday, the plan is hill sprints 🤢 I'll think about that tomorrow!
