My brilliant old man Roger was diagnosed with Parkinsons 16 years ago aged 51. Far too young!
Ever since, he has gradually had his cognitive functions stripped away from him which has made every day tasks and abilities very difficult for him, and in recent years, impossible.
This has now evolved into Parkinson's dementia which affects the cognitive part of the brain. So his memory is fine, but everything from talking, moving and everyday basic tasks that me and you could do without thinking, his brain can't tell him how to do it properly.
Unfortunately Parkinson's medical breakthroughs are slooooooow and there is no cure. But Parkinson's UK do so much to bring that next breakthrough ever so slightly nearer. So i'm proud to be running to Paris with their colours on.
My amazing mum has looked after my dad with such care throughout and in recent years has given up her work and social life to be his full time carer. I'm doing this just as much for my mum as I am for my dad.
I will be so grateful to everyone for any donation big or small.
