Run2Paris 2024

London to Paris in four days, on foot, between five ambitious runners!

That's about a half marathon per day per person. Wish us luck but more importantly please donate. Your donation will go towards two really important causes, supporting Parkinson's UK and SSAFA. I really appreciate your support.

I'll do the odd blog post now and then, so you can see how I'm getting on.

And while you're here, do check out my team's page, The 5 Musketeers, by clicking on the 'My Team' button at the top of the page!

My Updates

Training ramp-up

Managed my longest run to date in R2P-mode (1L of water in my pack). Just looking forward to getting started now!

Another Half, another month to go...

Well chuffed with (another) half marathon PB at the Gloucester Half with some of my fab colleagues!

Now onto more consecutive day training.

New Kit Drop

Me and the team proudly modelling the Official Cheltenham Running Club Run2Paris kit at last week's tempo run. I've had to slow down training this week due to an achy lower back, but should be alright for the Gloucester Half at the end of the month!

BIG thank you for the donations so far, well on the way to hitting that target.

Half Marathon DONE

I was great to tackle the Warwick Half with the running club, many of whom are taking on the R2P challenge with me!

With my first half marathon complete, I'm looking forward to increasing running within each week.

With training taking care of itself, it's time to do some fundraising...

Surely not?

The conversation in a pub on a Friday evening in June with a few folk from running club went something like this:
"Run2Paris?"
"Huh?"
"Run from London to Paris, you're in a group doing about a half marathon each, everyday for four days. They've just finished this year's one (2023) and have started registration for next year's in May. You in? C'mon, it'll be fun!"

Now, I've never done a half marathon and I hadn't been running for that long; a few months max. Not to mention the logistics of time off work and car hire and the cost of the event and getting a team together.

My response? "Yeah okay, sounds great!"

Mike, surely not? The furthest you've run is 10k and you think you can run 80k over four consecutive days in less than a year's time? And all that training??

So here I am 5 months on, in a group with four equally ambitious (but far more experienced and better equipped) runners. And a training plan in place (thanks Conor!).

Step one: run a half marathon.
