Running to Paris

Myself and 4 of my Mickleover Running Club friends are challenging ourselves by running to Paris over 4 days (along with 50 other teams).

Covering about half a marathon a day each, we're running a 'relay' that takes from London to the Eiffel Tower at the end of May.

None of us have ever done anything like this before and we're really excited by the experience ahead (the training - less so!).

More importantly we're raising funds for supporting Parkinson's UK and SSAFA. If you are able to sponsor us that would be much appreciated. Thanks :-)

My Updates

4 Weeks to go!

No matter how hard we try, life just gets in the way! Training for me had been going really well but I've been ill with a cold/virus and a muscle injury so I've lost a couple of weeks.  However....I'm back today and with 4 weeks to go there's at least 3 weeks of decent running ahead (hopefully barring no other injuries etc).  We have another Captains catch up in Monday and once I'm back with some sustained running I know I'll start to get really excited - and nervous - about the trip ahead.  The team are all really positive which is great.  Thank you again for your support and keen interest!!  I can't believe it's only a matter of weeks now.  Lucy, myself and John practiced eating ice cream after a recent half marathon (suffice to say, we nailed it!) and I have another half marathon race in a couple of weeks in Birmingham so will do my best to repeat it!

11 weeks to go.....and it's getting real!

We've had more details now about the route and running distances ...day 2 will be everyone's favourite as the longest run is about 8miles, but on the other days there are lots of 14 and 15 mile runs so we've all amended or training plans slightly!
My preparation for the lack of sleep (as sleeping on a roll mat under canvas is not going to be the most comfortable) is going well....as most people know I'm a terrible sleeper anyway so no issues for me there!!

Again I'd like to thank everyone for their donations. It really is appreciated and hugely motivating and inspiring ..
We will do you all proud....right...off for a run!  X

13 weeks to go......

First and foremost - thank you so much to everyone who has so very kindly donated and offered words of support!

Fundraising continues, and we're looking to hold a quiz night (we have some great prizes), I'm running a Bingo Lunch at work and we're also planning on attending a Car Boot sale (to clear out loft space) but all monies we raise will go towards Parkinsons and the SSFA.

On a personal training note, I am now back to running 4x per week (after a calf injury stopped me before I'd even had chance to start!) and some of us have signed up for a couple of events to help!

We find out a bit more about the logistics and routes etc soon and hopefully we'll be able to share some of that information with you.  We'll also upload plenty of pics and updates when we're doing the run in May.

Thank you to my Sponsors
