Thursday 27th Aug

…and all the training has been done. I’ve upped the weekly mileage to numbers I’ve never even got close to before.

3 weeks ago - 60km over 4 days

last week - 65km over 4 days

The past 4 days - 70km over 4 days

It’s been a learning experience, of endurance, slower pacing and lots of stops. Have various aches and pains but I’m ready.

Rest of the team has also been putting in the hours. So far no injuries to stop us all taking part - yaay.

Taper time now wish us luck !!!

When do we sleep !?

Friday 10th Jul

As we find out more about the event, it appears to be much more challenging than ‘running a half marathon a day for 4 days in a row’.

First we find out many of the legs are 13-17 miles long. That’s a lot longer ! Added to the high chances of getting lost (no marking and only 30 participants on the course at one time), then the miles add up to even more.

Next we find out that our first night is on a ferry. Lovely we will get a cabin and get some sleep. NOO ! The ferry departs at 11pm and arrives at 5am (plus losing an hour en route) - max 4 hours sleep and no cabin, just find a place to bed down. 🫨

That was going to be our best night’s sleep as the next two are in tents in fields. The prospect of running with no sleep and aching bodies from sleeping on camping gear suddenly makes the challenge that more difficult (and slightly terrifying!).

But on the first team call with the event organisers you hear all about the charities we are fundraising for.

The KSS Air Ambulance charity who saves life’s in emergencies wherever they are in the Kent, Sussex & Surrey area (where we are running through)

The Samaritans who help people in crisis through the power of human connection. Prevent suicides. Prevent heartache for loved ones left behind. Help people through their darkest times. These will be the things that will get me through the runs. I know several friends who have experienced suicide in their family, I do this for them.

Thank you for donating ! We need to raise at least £1500 by 10 Aug and £2000 before the race starts on 10 Sept.

PS if anyone wants to join us in Paris at the end, we will be celebrating the finish in a pub close to the Eiffel Tower on Sun 13 Sept !

PPS we only need to raise £40O per person but if we can raise £1000 per person think how amazing that would be ! It’s a small event, only 30 teams. Any donation gratefully received. Thank you !!
